From SCGS blog:

The 40th Annual Genealogy Jamboree, hosted by the Southern California Genealogical Society, promises to be an exceptional event for genealogists of all experience levels. This year's Jamboree will be held Friday through Sunday, June 26-28, 2009, at the Burbank Airport Marriott Hotel and Convention Center, in Burbank, California.

Jamboree will offer over 100 lecture sections over the three days, nearly 25% more sessions than were offered in 2008. "We will have sessions addressing research techniques for traditional brick-and-mortar record sources, digital resources, use of DNA in genealogy, organization, and several geography-specific sessions," said Jamboree Co-Chair Leo Myers.

Myers continued, "Genealogists need to know the time-tested research skills that have been used in earlier generations. The thorough researcher will take advantage of the explosion of online, digital resources. Our lectures will address both needs."

This is a year of collaboration with several leading genealogical organizations and societies. Jamboree will feature speakers and exhibitors from Ancestry.com, FamilySearch.org, New England Historic Genealogical Society (NEHGS), the National Genealogical Society (NGS), the Federation of Genealogical Societies (FGS), and California State Genealogical Alliance (CSGA). Several Southern California societies will also be in attendance.

Hotel Registration is Open. The Marriott's online registration system is up and running. Please make your hotel reservation at the Burbank Marriott website. SCGS has negotiated a discounted room rate of $139 per night for 1-2 occupants, $159 for triple and $179 for quad (4 in a room). The rates are in effect from June 23 through July 1. Reservations must be made by May 25 in order to take advantage of the reduced rates.

Southwest Airlines is Now Accepting Reservations. Southwest Airlines is my favorite airline for flying in and out of Burbank. They are now accepting reservations through August, and I saw several low-priced web-only reservations available for late June. Southwest offers online check-in and has recently introduced a first-check-in, first-in-line system at the gate that helps to relieve some of the cattle-call feeling of flying Southwest.

Other airlines serving Burbank are Alaska, American, Delta, JetBlue, United, and US Airways.
