The following is abstracted from the Marin Journal.  The Marin County Genealogical Society has published a series of books with abstracts from the paper from 1861 through 1890.  Each book has a full name index.  If you are interested in researching your ancestors in these publications, please contact Cathy Gowdy (cylgowdy at aol dot com).

Local Intelligence

Thus it is our daughters leave us.  Miss Hattie W. Phillips, one of the very best girls we had went to the far hilly region of Inyo, yesterday, to brighten the home of Mr. George K. Phillips, who seems to have given no thought to the interests of San Rafael society, but considered only his own personal wishes.  Miss Phillips was one of the brightest, most useful and efficient young ladies in her circle, and her place cannot be refilled.  But, well, never mind.  We throw the old shoe after them, and may happiness dwell with them.
